Resident Fonts for Printer Manufacturers
Introduction
PDF imaging devices, PostScript-compatible, and PCL-compatible printers include standard sets of resident fonts to ensure standards compliance, meet user and market expectations, and speed up printing for the most common types of everyday document.
MetricsMatch includes four resident font sets that OEMs can license and embed in printers they distribute. All four sets deliver Dalton Maag quality and are fully compatible with industry-standard font sets:
- All MetricsMatch fonts are supplied in TrueType-based OpenType format, ensuring maximum compatibility with printer RIPs (raster image processors).
- MetricsMatch fonts follow a naming convention (MXM) that clearly identifies them as part of the MetricsMatch font sets. However, we can rename all fonts to feature your brand or to make them an integrated part of your product.
- MetricsMatch font files are drop-in replacements for industry-standard and clone fonts from other providers.
Fonts for PDF Imaging
In addition to direct printing and imaging, PDF is commonly used as a document transport format by AirPrint, IPP Everywhere, Mopria, and Wi-Fi Direct Print Services.
Other than PDF/A, all versions of PDF require imaging software, printers, and other devices to include 14 resident fonts for accurate document reproduction. The MetricsMatch PDF 14 Font Set features Dalton Maag designs adapted to be fully compatible with the industry-standard PDF Base 14 font set:
