- Who are you?
- Bruno Maag, Creative & Managing Director.
- When did you join Dalton Maag?
- In 1991, when I set up the company with my partner Liz Dalton.
- Tell us about yourself
- I live in South London with my wife and son. The business keeps me pretty busy but I try not to let work take over. I enjoy cooking, particularly with my son who is in the process of becoming a professional chef. I like swing dancing, cycling and boxing to keep me lean.
- What prompted you to take your current role?
- I am trained as a typesetter, in metal, photo and digital, and soon found my passion in designing type. As the company grew I naturally drifted towards running a business and working with my talented team to produce the world's best fonts.
- What's your favourite part of your job?
- I love talking about type with people, and see a project taking shape, from the first ideas to a final product. Of course, it's great to hear the client being happy with what we have done.
- What's your Small Object of Design, and why?
- I think it has to be this potato peeler. There is a quiet beauty to this object, but it's the functionality that I adore. It does exactly what it's supposed to do.
