Amélie Bonet

Who are you?
My name is Amélie Bonet. I am a type designer at Dalton Maag.
When did you join Dalton Maag?
I joined the team in April 2010.
Tell us about yourself
Parisian born, I have been working and studying in various countries. Now based in London, I have not given up on travelling yet and use my free time to pursue my explorations.
What prompted you to take your current role?
When I was younger, I did some calligraphy classes, which gave me a deep interest in letters and typography. The interest naturally kept growing over the years and led me to become type designer. Further, I like meticulous work.
What's your favourite part of your job?
My favourite part of type design work is the challenge of producing technically valid fonts as well as stylistically engaging. In that respect, research is taking a large part of my job, and I greatly appreciate that.
What's your Small Object of Design, and why?
I try to not be attached to objects! It could be a pair of speakers to listen to music. I would rather have a favourite word, perhaps "technique". Or it could be an adjective to define a work, maybe "I like".
