- Who are you?
- My name is Amélie Bonet. I am a type designer at Dalton Maag.
- When did you join Dalton Maag?
- I joined the team in April 2010.
- Tell us about yourself
- Parisian born, I have been working and studying in various countries. Now based in London, I have not given up on travelling yet and use my free time to pursue my explorations.
- What prompted you to take your current role?
- When I was younger, I did some calligraphy classes, which gave me a deep interest in letters and typography. The interest naturally kept growing over the years and led me to become type designer. Further, I like meticulous work.
- What's your favourite part of your job?
- My favourite part of type design work is the challenge of producing technically valid fonts as well as stylistically engaging. In that respect, research is taking a large part of my job, and I greatly appreciate that.
- What's your Small Object of Design, and why?
- I try to not be attached to objects! It could be a pair of speakers to listen to music. I would rather have a favourite word, perhaps "technique". Or it could be an adjective to define a work, maybe "I like".
