InterFace Update

If you need a great alternative to the standard sans serif fonts then InterFace should be your choice - now more than ever. We have spent the last two years updating all twelve weights with more languages and additional typographic features. In order to ensure you can buy what you actually need we have decided to split the fonts into different font products:

  • InterFace Standard now contains the same enhanced character set as all our recently published fonts.
  • InterFace Typo contains the above Standard character set and also includes small caps, and matching numerals and punctuation. All of these are accessible using the OpenType feature in InDesign, Illustrator CS and Quark 7.
  • InterFace Cyrillic contains the Standard character set plus support for Russian and many other languages of the former Soviet Union.
  • InterFace Greek contains the Standard character set plus support for Greek.
  • InterFace Corp is our corporate value font. This font contains all of the above characters, creating a comprehensive communications toolbox.

We have also changed the font naming structure of InterFace. The previous fonts were engineered into three font families. While this ensured cross-platform document compatibility, some users were confused by how the lighest and darkest weights were style-linked. The update now lists each weight separately in the font menu, with italics accessible either via style menu or style button.

If you have purchased InterFace in the last three months you will already have received a free update to Standard. If you update the fonts please be aware that documents created with the old InterFace fonts may need to be reformatted as the font names have changed.

A New Website

In the last couple of years Dalton Maag has grown its range of products and services. In order to make it easier for our clients to understand what we do, we decided that our website, an important portal for us, needed to be clearer and more transparent. You will find that our services and products are now clearly explained, giving you the arguments why you and your clients should invest in fonts. But we did not sacrifice the in-depth information about fonts. On the contrary, we have expanded the information pool allowing you to access the information you need quickly and comprehensively.

If you are looking for a font to buy you can use the text search facility on our website by simply typing the font name. If it is available in our font libraries you can simply click on it and use our on-line purchase facilities. But choosing a font is not always so easy. To help you make the right font choice we have developed a search facility that allows you to find a font according to stylistic features, technical specifications and emotional qualities. We believe that this unique facility will help you find fonts that you may not have otherwise considered, and find fonts that aren't being used by all and sundry. To search for a font visit our Find a Font page.

Dalton Maag brokers font licences for Zurich's design education

"We have worked with Dalton Maag because we trust their competence and their advice" says Samuel Marty, project leader of this font purchase. Further licenses from the Linotype, Monotype, URW and Berthold libraries for a second round of purchases have already been quoted. These fonts will be added to the present font library during the next two years.

It is important to enable students to use a broad range of original fonts and to explain about font design and technical quality. To have so many fonts at their fingertips students can explore how type can enrich their own visual designs. By using good fonts legally, students can also be made aware of the effects of font piracy on the creation of new designs and developments in technology.

As of February 2007, Dalton Maag Switzerland is an official partner of Linotype. Accordingly, our Swiss office can now assist with licensing from the Linotype, Monotype and ITC libraries, using our high standard of consulting and service.
