Dalton Maag is currently recruiting for a font engineering role at its UK office near Loughborough Junction Station, in south London. The position offered will depend on the experience and skill levels of the successful applicant:

Font Engineer (annual salary of £29,954): an engineer with some experience of typeface engineering, an ability to judge design, able to work largely autonomously, but with assistance for individual technical and programming issues. Proficient in using FontLab for font production and design, and has an understanding of TrueType hinting.

Lead Font Engineer (annual salary of £32,607): an engineer with experience of typeface engineering and a sound understanding of typeface design, across at least Latin, Greek, and Cyrillic, able to work autonomously, delivering high quality work with little assistance. Able to critique and assist the work of others. Experience of hinting using VTT and FontLab, and of OT feature creation using VOLT.

Senior Font Engineer (annual salary of £35,499): an engineer with extensive experience of typeface production and a sound understanding of typeface design, able to demonstrate an understanding of complex script systems, able to work autonomously, delivering high quality work with no assistance. Able to comment on the work of others, and to train and nurture the engineering talents of others. Willing to speak and write about their work and about typeface engineering in general. Proficient at hinting using VTT and FontLab, and at OT feature creation using VOLT and other toolkits.

In addition to the salary detailed above, Dalton Maag also operates a group personal pension scheme, and a profit-related bonus scheme.

The role requires fluent written and spoken English and a confidence in dealing with clients. The successful applicant will work on a diverse range of type engineering projects, and help build our range of products and services.
