The quality of type on screen depends on many factors: font format, quality of font engineering, application, and Operating System. Without the proper font engineering via QuDOS the font will always look inferior on the screen, whatever the environment. QuDOS applies additional instructions into a font that tell the rasterizer how best to convert the font outlines to bitmaps.
Depending on the font format the hinting is more or less elaborate, but we always recommend the use of TrueType (TT) or TrueType-based OpenType (OT) fonts because of the full control given to pixel placement. We can ensure that your font looks as good in an older System such as Windows 98 as it does in the most recent versions that make full use of ClearType technologies.
We have both the experience and tools to optimize TT and OT fonts, gaining the best possible screen display quality. Should you experience problems with your screen display please email or telephone for more information regarding our hinting service.
